Sustainability

Our commitment

Water is precious. That is why we consider the principles of sustainability when we source, produce and deliver purified water. When we take the time to make choices that include environmental and social aspects, we’re able to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Looking for ways to save water

We’re always looking for new and innovative technologies and ideas that can help us make the best use of water throughout our processes. As part of our our longstanding commitment to sustainable water management and creating shared value in communities, we recently announced we are working towards the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) accrediatation. This accreditiation asks for the best practices in sustainable water balance, good water quality, and good water governance to ensure the long term sustainability of water resources.

Water stewardship

In 2020, we will pursue Certification of our Agbara factory under the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) International Standard. This is an international certification that sets rigorous criteria for managing water in ways that are environmentally, socially and economically beneficial.

Packaging & Recycling

Since 2013 we’ve reduced the amount of plastic in our 0.6 liter and 1.5Litre bottles by over 15%. What’s more - all of our bottles are 100% recyclable and can be used for all sorts of new, reusable things.

Every drop counts

We’re committed to using water carefully. It takes more water to produce a bottle of purified water than the bottle actually contains. By improving our production processes, we now use just 1.94 liters of water to bring you a liter of Nestlé Pure Life purified water. This makes Nestlé Pure Life one of the most environmentally efficient bottled beverages anywhere.
