From fantastic forests and awesome oceans to wonderful wildlife and exciting new discoveries. Find out what makes our world amazing and why we should help protect it...
Our wonderful world…
Happy home
Earth is the only planet in our galaxy that can support life. Scientists estimate that our world is home to around 8.7 million species of plants and animals! Help keep our planet healthy by picking up litter and recycling whenever you can.
Super seas
Our oceans produce around 70% of the world’s oxygen and are bursting with incredible wildlife. The sea is also home to the planet’s largest living structure, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, which is so large, it can even be seen from outer space!
Green machine
Our planet is a recycling champ! The Earth recycles its own water, its own surface and plants and organisms create its oxygen. Do your bit to keep the planet clean by recycling water bottles, drinks cans, paper and glass!
Fantastic forests
Earth has many beautiful rain forests, but at 2.1 million square miles (5.5 million square kilometres), the Amazon is by far the largest. It stretches over nine countries and around 10% of Earth’s plants and animals call it home!
Amazing Arctic
Found at the northernmost part of Earth, the Arctic is home to amazing wildlife like polar bears, Arctic foxes, walruses, seals and whales. Despite its freezing temperatures, about four million people call this wintery wonderland home!
New discoveries
Thanks to science, exploration and technology, we know more about the Earth today than ever before. But there’s still so much to learn! Scientists believe we’ve explored less than 20% of our oceans, and new species of animal are being discovered all the time.
